Carol
Ellison was honored to be invited twice to serve as a juror
for the international
Bologna Children's Book Fair New Media Prize for excellence
in children's and educational media (1997-1998).
In
1998 she was featured as a guest expert on Oprah in the
report, Strangers on the Internet, that program's
top rated segment of the year, and was subsequently invited
to serve as an expert witness testimony to the House Subcommittee
on Crime's investigation into child safety on the Internet.
As
a technology and education expert, Ms. Ellison has been
widely quoted in the media, including NPR's All Things
Considered in a segment on girls and computing, articles
in The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal,
the Los Angeles Times, Seattle Times, and Rocky
Mountain News. She has appeared as a guest commentator
on CNN, WBC's Today in New York, the Financial News Network
(now CNN/FN) and three satellite tours reaching diverse
local media markets.
As
an editor at CMP Media, she was honored as New Media Champion
for online magazine development in 1994 and in 1999 for
Best Web Site for her work in launching VARBusiness Univeristy,
an online educational resource for computer professionals.
